Sorapol SS14 Campaign

Set within the beckoning walls of Hilles estate, the home of the late Isabella Blow, a woman of pure inspiration for the brand; fragmented elegance resides. Designed and influenced by the socialist ideals of the artists William Morris and John Ruskin, a juxtaposition of grandeur and reality is highlighted within the collection, bringing together an abundant response of both wearable and statement pieces. Sorapol’s collection is named Tevana, sanskrit for “midnight garden.” It evokes traditional picturesque landscapes, which have been abstracted into a wilder but restricted aesthetic. Like Hilles, it has turned its back on the hillside and stands tall without contention. Morphing into creatures of the forest, Amanda Rica, India Rose and Jimmy Q, thrive within their new setting. Strength has played a defiant role within this collection, with structured leather pieces highlighting the female form, contrasting against the use of sheer panelling, which provides a feminine and innocent outlook. Experimental PVC and resin have been employed to bring texture and dimension, propelling these classic silhouettes into a microcosm of modernity. Injections of colour have also been used throughout, intermingling the use of playful patterns of flowers and nature, which have been manipulated to form a unified and cohesive vision of separates and outerwear. This collection is adaptable and highlights the brands signature corsetry and embroidery, which they have become known for. These creatures of the forest have found their refuge, and are happy to linger within the spotlight of an unforgettable fashion hero. Models: Amanda Rica, India Rose and Jimmy Q.
